IRAS facilities
The In Vitro Toxicology research group (ATX) is part of Utrecht University’s Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (www.uu.nl/iras).
With almost 30,000 students and 6,000 staff, Utrecht University (UU) is one of the largest general research universities in Europe and the highest ranked university in the Netherlands (Shanghai ranking 2018).
The Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) is an interfaculty research institute of the faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, and Sciences at Utrecht University. It provides education and interdisciplinary research on the health risks of exposure to potentially harmful agents in the environment, at the workplace and through the food chain.
IRAS hosts a state-of-the-art life science research environment with a well-equipped chemical analytical lab, which includes LCMS/MS, GC-ECD/FID/MS, HPLC-UV/fluorescence/ESLD and radiolabeling facilities to assess minute chemical concentrations in biological matrices. It holds physiological modelling and statistical software licenses for complex computational modelling and hosts cell culture facilities, microscopy equipment, multi-well plate readers for absorbance, luminescence and fluorescence, qRT- PCR, flow cytometer and immunostaining technologies.
